Economic growth is a national priority, and Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen stand ready to play their part in delivering a more stable, prosperous and greener future. Helping people access fair employment and creating healthy and sustainable places are key objectives for both councils.
As a newly federated area Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen are ready to take the next step in their growth journey together.
Both areas agree that economic growth must be inclusive, equitable and shaped by both communities as part of a wider “Deal” between both of the councils and communities.
Thriving Together is the name of the draft Blueprint for Inclusive and Sustainable Growth. It sets out the vision, themes and principles that should guide both councils' work.
Why this matters...
The Blueprint for Growth will set our future work that Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen councils will focus on to support economic growth. This, in turn, is intended to benefit communities, help address inequality and provide more opportunities for residents in the future.
How you can help
Right now the plan is in draft form, it's a work in progress.
So, we'd like you to do the following please:
Before the 30th June 2026 click on the link Blueprint for Growth - working on a better future | Get Involved Torfaen to view the draft and provide your comments. Your comments and suggestions will then help inform the first version of the blueprint to be used by both councils.
You can also discuss the Blueprint in person at the venues/dates listed on the consultation web page - Including at Goldworks (NP23 6GR) on 19th May 2026.
