Wisdom Wednesday is a weekly advice session at Goldworks, where an expert in a select field, bases themselves in the coworking space for the day; with the caveat that you: our members and local businesses, are able to book advice sessions with them throughout the day.

Join us for a Wisdom Wednesday session with Karen Williams, Town Centre Business Development Officer, to talk through practical ways of starting, testing or developing a business within Blaenau Gwent’s town centres.

Karen works across Tredegar, Ebbw Vale, Brynmawr, Blaina and Abertillery, supporting town-centre activity and helping businesses understand the opportunities that are available locally. During the session, she can offer straightforward advice on:

- Test trading ideas through short-term and low-risk options

- Using the Meanwhile Use Scheme, which can help businesses try out premises without committing to long-term leases

- Access to pop-up shop space in Abertillery

- Opportunities to test trade at Ebbw Vale Market

- Making use of town centre events and footfall to promote products or services

Karen can also answer questions about how town centres work: what tends to be suitable for different locations, and where support or signposting might be available if you’re considering your next step.

This session is suitable for anyone who’s thinking about trying retail, market trading, or town-centre-based business activity, and wants to better understand the options before committing.
